We’re visiting Sault St. Marie today (9/17) and life is about as normal as you can get.
This is a great location in relation to Mackinac Island, just over the Mackinac Bridge on the edge of St. Ignace. It’s a popular spot for camping in the UP, with good, clean facilities and a nice home base for exploring the area. It’s got a nice viewing platform, with views of the bridge and the boats traveling to and from the island. There are 20, 30, and 50-amp full hookups, with a fire ring, a picnic area, a playground, a recreation trail, and a swimming beach. Shower and toilet facilities are available, and the campground does allow pets.
Like the porkies it offers hiking, camping, beautiful scenery, and waterfalls. Also sand beaches and at its eastern end near Grand Marais some top notch agate and rock hunting beaches. When you need to get away from it all, there’s no place quite like Wolverine Campground.

Getting away doesn’t have to mean going far away, not when mid-Michigan’s best camping is just around the corner at your Genesee County Parks. Known as the ‘Great Lakes State’, Michigan is based in the mid-west of the US and is home to more than 11,000 inland lakes, making it an RV road trip paradise!
Live in downriver MI….been to most of these places in this article. Spent 8 days in the Copper Harbor/Picture Rock/Munising area. Some are just a short walk others are a bit of a hike( if you don’t mind the mosquitoes or black flies). I can recommend, if you want off the beaten path, Van Riper State park on Lake Michigamme. Nice park and not too crowded even at the end of July. Craig Lake State park just up the road is the most remote park in the State.

There is also a well-stocked camp store and a variety of paved sites with 30 Amp electrical service and a few sites with 50 Amp service. There is access to Lake Superior, and the campground tends to be on the quieter side. That said, there are no hookups, but campers will enjoy the picnic area, the trails, fishing, and a swimming beach. This is one of our favorite spots for camping in the UP. Marie, along the water and some sites with great views. With nice restroom and shower facilities, there is a dump station – and free WiFi! There are 20 amp, partial hookup sites available, and they also accept pets.
RV Trip Planning Made Simple

Local, county, municipal and metropolitan park passes will need to be purchased separately. Yes, this nice secluded property comes with a camper. This one is perfect because its buried back in the woods on a nice clean trail that goes out to it.
